One of the new, exciting features of the Town News Blox format are the new content-submissions buttons of the home page that readers can use to submit content to our websites for both our print and digital editions.
Micah Moore, reporter with the Stephenville (TX) Empire-Tribune, said his newspaper has seen an increase in reader-submissions since the content-submission buttons were installed on the home page of the newspaper’s website, http://www.yourhometownvoice.com.

Here are two sections featured on the Community Voice section of the Stephenville Empire-Tribune's website: the Your News & Videos section and the Travel with the E-T section
Below is a comment from Micah, “I love the new buttons on our site. They have already paid off with a few more submissions and has sparked new dialogue about crowdsourcing with our community. The E-T will publish a print story about the new features and include user testimonials. One user has experienced success with community event publicity through our local event calendar and another contributed his cell phone video of the Rangers postseason game-winning grand slam. His video is featured on the Community Voice section.”
One of the features on the Community Voice section that I love is the Travel with the E-T reader photo submission section. This feature is nothing new to community newspapers, having been a staple for print products for decades, but I like how the E-T is using these photos in their digital edition.
If you have the buttons on your home page, are you promoting them and how to use them in your print and digital products? If not, it’s not too late to start.
